Master of Science - Communications Systems Theory

General
The aim of this programme is to provide numerate graduates with the highly technical skills required for the ever-expanding and exciting field of information and communic-ation systems.

Duration
One year full-time from September.

Course Content
The programme consists of eight one-semester courses together with a minor thesis on a related topic. The courses will be taken from: Communic-ations and Information Theory, Cryptology and Security, Stochastic Models for Communication, Wavelets and Applications, Coding Theory, Net-working and Traffic Control, Advanced Digital Image Processing and Analysis. Advanced Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality, Neural Networks, and Computer Algebra Systems. Further information on each of these courses may be found here.

Assessment
Continuous assessment, examination, and thesis.

Entry Requirements
A second class honours degree in Mathematics (or a related area) or the equivalent. Good honours graduates in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics with a strong mathematical background will also be considered.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of this programme will be in a unique position to seek employment in the ever expanding field of communication and information systems. Companies seeking such graduates include comp-uter and communication/information companies, telephone and internet providers, security and financial institutes.
