Niall Madden works on the design and analysis of numerical methods for singularly perturbed differential equations. Such problems are difficult to solve using classical methods. Their solutions tend to exhibit layers, the width of which depends on a small parameter multiplying the highest order term in the equations. He is particularly interested in "two parameter problems" and coupled systems. Application include modelling turbulence in wave-current interactions.
