MATHEMATICS RESEARCH AREAS

DIFFERENTIAL and INTEGRAL EQUATIONS

  • Michael Hayes' research interests include analytically solving partial differential equations that describe real life industrial problems. To date his research work consists of finding solutions to fluid mechanics problems some of which were solved using lubrication and perturbation theory.
  • Niall Madden works on the design and analysis of numerical methods for singularly perturbed differential equations. Such problems are difficult to solve using classical methods. Their solutions tend to exhibit layers, the width of which depends on a small parameter multiplying the highest order term in the equations. He is particularly interested in "two parameter problems" and coupled systems. Application include modelling turbulence in wave-current interactions. For more details, please see his publications and preprints.
  • Donal O'Regan works on Differential and Integral Inclusions, Difference equations, Oscillation Theory and Operator Equations.
